Exploring the World – One Image at a Time

Mid Summer Festival 2026 edition

It’s hard to believe August has arrived! Doesn’t seem that long since school was just let out for the summer and the wild roses were blooming. This weekend we celebrated mid summer. Once again the Mid Summer Festival in Fort Qu’Appelle didn’t disappoint. There were old favorite vendors and quite a few new booths. I spent an hour wandering and enjoying everything I saw. Visiting with friends I met as I wandered the grounds. I hope you enjoy the selection of photos I’m sharing with you. They are an excellent example of what there was to see. Enjoy! Summer Days

Maybe there is method in my tardiness. On a -25 degree day it’s nice to remember a beautiful warm day in August. The following photos are from the Mid Summer Arts Festival, held in Fort Qu’Appelle SK. I went with friends and we all enjoyed what there was to see. Paintings, I would have loved to add to my imaginary house of art, pottery, metal creations, cloths and accessories made of fabric and much more. Following are just a few photos of what we saw.  Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery.

Impressionist Art

It’s been very hot in our area these past days/week, so time outside is limited. The pups and I are staying in a lot. To pass the time and exercise the brain, I’ve been working thru some online courses on various subjects. The late is one was on Photographing flowers. Very enjoyable and I learnt quite a few things. Now I wish I’d planted more flowers and have added that task to my 2025 list of things to do. One of the things I learnt was how to take photos of flowers that look similar to the Impressionist paintings. One of the elements of Impressionist art is “Painted scenes that looked fuzzy and unrefined”. I think I’ve accomplished that in my photos. A adobe presets were used on a few of this shots. They were fun to do and I’m happy with the results. Now to find more flowers!  Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery.

PWP week of Sept 24 – Sept 30 23

I’ve posted a variety of shots this week. I thought it would be a bare bones post but I got lucky. I had time to fill so went to one of my favorite places – Regina Floral Conservatory. It didn’t disappoint. Beautiful fall decorations and the flowers were awesome. There is a new horses sport, or new to me. I went to watch a polocrosse clinic. Here is a link that explains it if anyone is interested. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polocrosse To many things to think about at once for me. I love finding murals in unexpected places and that I did with the ones of the Girl Guides. I was one once upon a time. The fine art I saw in a public place and was quite taken with it. The Eiffel Tower I found close to home. It was featured a Kit Kat bar. I took a few almost night one of the moon and Josie. For some of the shots this week I used a Lens Baby soft focus lens. I love the effect it gives. There are shots a fox that is hanging around, a lady bug, new growth and some miscellaneous ones. Enjoy. PWP week of Sept 10 – Sept 16 23

This was a slow week for the camera and I. Sometimes life keeps interfering with my fun time. My little earth mover provided some entertainment. Think she was digging to china the way she went at the job. I knew where the birdhouses lived and thought I’d share the creative designs. Some are very artistic. They do brighten the area up! Mother Nature provided color. Don’t see many shades of red but lots of varied yellow. The leaves are fallen fast as we’ve had a few strong winds. Our hummingbirds are on their way south but a robin is still with us. A few garden adornments are still in gardens and not put away for the season. Had to share the happy little dog! Someone must have been partying on the road I drive and left behind a dead soldier. Hope you enjoy this weeks offering. PWP Week of July 9 – July 15 23

July is half gone. Hard to believe. Some mornings here felt like October. Wouldn’t want to be waking up in a tent or under the stars. This week I went to the exhibit – Van Gogh and Beyond. It was wonderful. I could have spent all day at it. Highly recommend it. Along with the Scandinavian festival and the foxes, I’m doing to dedicate a page to the exhibit. I’m posting a few shots here as a tease. Along with them you will see dogs, skies, a shiny red Harley Davidson, sunflowers, my kitchen window and lived in living room. Most of the shots were taken with the 8mm fish-eye lens. It is a fun lens to pay with. Enjoy.
