Exploring the World – One Image at a Time

Saskatchewan skies

PWP Nov 19 – Nov 25 2023

I had the camera out a bit this week. The pups had their 3rd birthday so photos were a must. They’ve sure changed. All grown up, so fast. We had two huge Rottweilers visit one morning. Guess they were out for a tour. Thank goodness Chase respects his boundaries, and the visitors stayed on the road. They found their way home. While at the pet store one day, I saw that a Pet had taken her owner over to stock up on supplies. Either that or the Pet was driving the getaway car! A few mornings have been foggy hence the pretty trees. Spent some time at Agribition and saw part of the heavy horse pull. There was only 3 teams competing, and one was out when I got their. Once again the sky was beautiful. Such vivid colors. I spent a bit of time practicing post editing skills with a beautiful doll. More practice is needed. PWP week of Nov 12 – Nov 18 23

This week’s content is a bit different. Still my photos but they are photos from previous years. The photos here are shots used for calendars for bygone years. Hence the fancy borders. It was bitter sweet going thru the files. Brought up lots of memories, some of them sad as I still really miss my four legged friends. We had a lot of good times. The shots with all the numbers on the bottom, are from my trusty assistance the trail camera. I did use my camera this week but the shots I got were Christmas decorations and no matter how the stores think, I think it is to early for Christmas content. Enjoy!

PWP week of Oct 15 – Oct 21 23

Another week to fly by. This one spent fencing and getting ready for winter. We still have a few trees with leaves on. They are hanging on pretty well. I’m adding more fall shots to my collection. Some trees are bare now. What a difference. More sky shots. Maybe the time of year but the skies have been spectacular. Josie was keeping track of the fencing crew one afternoon. I’d did a shot on black of Chase this week. He always looks so pensive. Went on a road trip to a library this week. Book sale. They had a display of Lego creations. Very creative. They also had a 3d printing machine. Didn’t see it in action but the dragon is one that was printed. Would loved to have seen it work, but ….. A couple flowers this week. That’s it for another week. PWP week of Aug 13 – Aug 19 23

Another week in the books or photo album. No great features. Created an “on black” shot of Chase. He lays with his head on a paw and always looks so pensive. The route we take for our morning drive goes past the buffalo pasture so they are always reedy models. By the corner where we turn to come home there has been a young hawk for the past few days It’s not to sure about flying away from it’s perch and having me there drives mom crazy. She is in the air above me screaming. The last trip the youngster did move from one fence post to another. Saw an unrelated hawk on our drive one morning. More hummingbird shots. Some were taken with my phone thru the window. The purple wedding decorations were in a store I visited. Wonder if purple if THE color this year! One morning Chase tracked down a little muskrat. Removed Chase from the scene; caught the muskrat and carried it to the dugout and watched the little guy swim away. That was enough excitement at 6:30 in the morning for one day. More dog shots. Hope you enjoy this weeks contribution. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP Week of July 30 – August 5 23

Wow — the weeks are flying by. Summer is half over. Sad to say but I’m starting to see signs of fall in my area. Golden rod is blooming; bull rushes in full glory, leaves are changing colors. Our two hummingbirds, which you’ll see, seem to be fueling up. All way to early. This week includes shots of — dogs, Josie and Sassy, the moon, lentils – does anyone make lentil soup. This is what they look like before they reach the pot! I’ve included a few shots from a Mid Summer festival I attended. Great day. A couple tracks to see if I have any trackers following me. Pretty easy to figure out. I don’t know if is the time of year but the skies lately have been gorgeous. One lone horse photo and this would be of my boy Quill. Hope you enjoy this weeks selection. PWP Week of July 23 – July 29 23

Another fun filled week. This week we have an eagle that is king of the sand hill. Barrel racers coming off the first barrel. Some rain drops on hanging baskets and just falling. Looks like snow but is rain. Josie and her love of water. Chase laying and waiting at the door. Mr. Rabbit a plush friend. Portrait of two awesome dogs. More flowers and sky. This week you get to meet the Sunshine Sisters. Enjoy.

PWP Week of July 16 – July 22 23

I apologize for the lateness of this post. There was a pasture fence to be mended and it was in worse shape then anticipated. Horses are safe and I won’t be spending time running them down. Hope you had a good week. Mine was decent. Weather starting heating up close to the weekend. Will be sticking close to the house today. On the menu this week we have dogs, skies, and sunflowers. It is haying season in my part of the country and we have some shots of that. A neighbors cow was close the morning I saw the deer in our pasture. The swallows are availing themselves of the dogs water. That’s it for this week. Enjoy.

PWP Week of July 9 – July 15 23

July is half gone. Hard to believe. Some mornings here felt like October. Wouldn’t want to be waking up in a tent or under the stars. This week I went to the exhibit – Van Gogh and Beyond. It was wonderful. I could have spent all day at it. Highly recommend it. Along with the Scandinavian festival and the foxes, I’m doing to dedicate a page to the exhibit. I’m posting a few shots here as a tease. Along with them you will see dogs, skies, a shiny red Harley Davidson, sunflowers, my kitchen window and lived in living room. Most of the shots were taken with the 8mm fish-eye lens. It is a fun lens to pay with. Enjoy.

PWP Week of June 25 – July 1 23

This week we have an assortment of shots. I went to a farmer’s market and what a display of treasure to be seen. Not many veggies for sale but I wasn’t there when gates opened so maybe missed them. Did score some new potatoes and little cucumbers. Politely asked a man if I could take a picture of this dog. His is the little gray one with lots of hair. I cringle thinking about looking for ticks on it. The black and white dog belongs to a friend. A wonderfully smart border collie Australian shepherd. I stopped by the Hansen Ross House -Artists in Residence as the artists had displays out side. Wonderful work. I bought a couple items from C. Ingrid Deringer. Here is a link to her website https://www.ingridderinger.com/ Look under Ging Ging designs if you like whimsical. I had my fish-eye lens out for awhile. It takes awesome sky shots. It can make my dogs look kind’ve goofy. The roses I bought for an event. They sure didn’t last long. How long can you sit watching a gopher hole? Chase sat quite awhile. I have more fox pics but have decided to do a post of just foxes. I’m sure one of these days Mom will move them. I am downsizing my prop collection and taking shots of them be fore they leave. Hence the doll. You may be seeing more of such shots. That’s it for this week. Wonder what next week will bring. Enjoy. PWP week of June 11 – June 17 23

I’m sorry this post is late.
Another great week. I could take 6 months of weather like we are having. Minus the mosquitoes. A little bad with a lot of good is ok. The highlight of my week was a trip to a Scandinavian festival. No airplane tickets involved. A friend and I drove to the site of the festival. Coming home was a bit dicey. The highway was being worked on and the signs weren’t put back up so I missed our turn. Figured it out before we went to far and thanks to Google maps found the right road. I have included a few teaser shots of what we saw. Will post a blog of all later in the week. Besides a bit of culture we have rain drops on clover, a high stepping robin, clouds, some late blooming lilacs. My Grandmother lived in a small town which had big lots. One side of hers was filled with a hedge of yellow roses. I am lucky enough to have a yellow rose bush, which reminds me of her, so this week we have some yellow roses. A barn swallow rests from driving Josie nuts. Remember to watch for the Scandinavian blog. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of May 21 – May 27 23

Last week of May. Weeks are flying by. I don’t have rain drops on roses but have rain drops on other flora. Even caught a white butterfly feeding on a dandelion. Used my Lensbaby lens for a few shots. It was used it for most of the shots of Chase. We have an invisible fence around 6 acres for the yard to keep the dogs safe. The one of Chase’s head is him waiting by the boundary for me to come back to the yard. I used ICM (in camera movement) for the cherry blossom shot. Was pleased with the result. I caught one gorgeous sunrise this week. Of course we have pups at play. Our lilacs are just starting to bloom and they are beautiful. Our lilac bushes are foundation ones and the fragrance is wonderful. Wonder what this week will bring. I know there will be a special post. Watch for it.  For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery

PWP week of Mar 23 – Apr 1 23

I’m cutting it pretty close today. We are told there is another batch of bad weather heading our way so was getting the outside prepared. Another assortment for this week. Hauled out some props. Figured I’d better make use of the snow while it was still here. Megs and Josie had a bonding session. Josie is so good with her and posing. Of course we have skies and dogs. Unfortunately I’ve been spending time at a hospital. I had to laugh when I saw this sign. There were two beds parked along the wall. The amethyst crystal is to replace a rose crystal I had the same shape. Hope you enjoy this weeks contribution. PWP week of Mar 19 – Mar 25 23

What a week! It was one of those weeks in which Life throws things at you. And I missed. I though I would have to restore to archives for my post but miraculously I was able to get brand new shots to share with you. We had two visitors this week. A bald eagle decided one of our tree was a great lockout post. It hung around for quite awhile. Our next visitor was Truffles. He was on his way to the family sty and needed a place to rest. He was quite agreeable to having his photo taken. One of his wishes or dreams was to have a picture taken with a wolf. I guess he heard the story of Little Red Riding Hood. I told him there were no wolves around at the moment by Chase would gladly fill in. Which he did, very well. No one was injured during the photo shot. I didn’t realize Easter was getting close until I visited a friend and saw all the decoration. I guess the chocolate candies in the stores should have clued me in. Once again I was able to get photos of the moon and Venus and the moon stopping for a rest. I passed the wreath on a walk in the city and thought it was kind’ve neat. And a partial portrait of a dog. Hope you enjoy my offering for this week. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of Mar 12 – Mar 18 23

It was a good week once we got dug out AGAIN. Hopefully not to many storms will roll thru. Living in Saskatchewan one can’t help being amazed by the skies we have. And they change so fast. I see unique cloud formations while out doing chores and by the time I get out with the camera they are gone. We have a squirrel hanging around again. I will try and get more pics of him. Took a road trip to Fort Qu’Appelle Saturday. Chase needed a new harness for the car and the pet store there is great. Along Bay Ave there are beautiful statutes carved from wood. All done with a chainsaw. Here is a link about the creator https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/carving-art-artwork-fort-qu-appelle-pandemic-1.5652077 The bird houses were along the way. The shots of the white tailed deer are from the trip to the valley also. Like the sky shots, there will always photos of dogs! I wanted a picture of an old window frame for a project the pigeon was a plus Enjoy

PWP week of Feb 12 – Feb 18 23

The weeks are flying by. Soon we will be March and soon Spring will be here. We had a little white visitor this week. A weasel has moved in. We haven’t seen many mice this winter and he is probably the reason. Chase seems to be able to tell when he is out and about. The weather has been unsettle this week, providing some awesome skies. Only February and we have some pretty huge snow banks. You’d think with all that snow it would be a lot of runoff but the experts say it will be a normal one for our region. Once again we have shots of the pups. They see a camera and seem to think they are the models. Which they usually are. I may gave caught a shot of a UFO. Enjoy.
