PWP Week of June 25 – July 1 23
This week we have an assortment of shots. I went to a farmer’s market and what a display of treasure to be seen. Not many veggies for sale but I wasn’t there when gates opened so maybe missed them. Did score some new potatoes and little cucumbers. Politely asked a man if I could take a picture of this dog. His is the little gray one with lots of hair. I cringle thinking about looking for ticks on it. The black and white dog belongs to a friend. A wonderfully smart border collie Australian shepherd. I stopped by the Hansen Ross House -Artists in Residence as the artists had displays out side. Wonderful work. I bought a couple items from C. Ingrid Deringer. Here is a link to her website https://www.ingridderinger.com/ Look under Ging Ging designs if you like whimsical. I had my fish-eye lens out for awhile. It takes awesome sky shots. It can make my dogs look kind’ve goofy. The roses I bought for an event. They sure didn’t last long. How long can you sit watching a gopher hole? Chase sat quite awhile. I have more fox pics but have decided to do a post of just foxes. I’m sure one of these days Mom will move them. I am downsizing my prop collection and taking shots of them be fore they leave. Hence the doll. You may be seeing more of such shots. That’s it for this week. Wonder what next week will bring. Enjoy. This week is just about foxes. Once again mother fox had her litter across the road under the bins. With the help of my trusty assistant the trail camera, along with my DSLR, I was able to get some shots of the little ones. Chase was the model of the week again. I’ve been watching some dog photography experts on You Tube and we did a bit of practicing. Slowly he is learning. All good things take time. We are having fun and strengthening the bond between us. Enjoy. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of May 21 – May 27 23
Last week of May. Weeks are flying by. I don’t have rain drops on roses but have rain drops on other flora. Even caught a white butterfly feeding on a dandelion. Used my Lensbaby lens for a few shots. It was used it for most of the shots of Chase. We have an invisible fence around 6 acres for the yard to keep the dogs safe. The one of Chase’s head is him waiting by the boundary for me to come back to the yard. I used ICM (in camera movement) for the cherry blossom shot. Was pleased with the result. I caught one gorgeous sunrise this week. Of course we have pups at play. Our lilacs are just starting to bloom and they are beautiful. Our lilac bushes are foundation ones and the fragrance is wonderful. Wonder what this week will bring. I know there will be a special post. Watch for it. PWP week of May 14 – May 20 23
I was starting to think that this weeks addition would be a famine week but Mother Nature came thru with great photo opportunities. One night after a very smoky day the evening sun was shrouded in smoke and I was lucky enough to be out to see it. Spring has definitely arrived bringing greens and yellows. I was able to record this year’s pussy willows and the last stages of it’s development. May is the month fishing begins in my area and I have a few hooks for you to view. I don’t fish so they won’t be used. A visit to our pasture enabled me to see the destruction the beavers can create. One tree became tangled in branched and didn’t fall to the ground after a lot of gnawing by the beaver. Wonder what the beaver thought when nothing came crashing down. As usual we have have shots of friends. Hope you enjoy this weeks contribution and return to see what shows up in front of my lens in the coming week. PWP week of Apr 30 – May 6 23
This week if a feast week. I have lots to share. The usual environmental shots are included. Things that have caught my interest. How man flavors of milkshakes can there be? The lovely little purple flowers are out. Chase and I went hunting them one day Geese are on the move. The shot of Chase and Ninja was taken from a distance thru a garden window to is on the soft side. I included it because I liked it. Caught a shot of the famous V formation. Of course there are shots of dogs and horses. What really padded this weeks post was a visit to the Water Fowl Part in Regina. It was mainly Canadian geese but did find a couple of duck, some pigeons and a rabbit went scooting by as I was leaving. I have never seen red catkins before. Was told they grown on either a poplar tree or aspen. There was a goose feeding in the water and it could kept it’s head under for a long time. Enjoy. PWP week of Apr 16 – Apr 22 23
We have another good old storm the end of this week but no pictures will be posted. That season is over. I did get some shots of the spring run off before the storm. Josie loves the water. I did get a shot of angel wings and wonder if they belonged to my Guardian Angel. The one I keep pretty busy! And the same evening a jet flew over. I always wonder where they are off to when they pass over. This week you meet Scruffy. He is a mixed terrier breed. He had just escaped from the toy box and we stopped at the Conservatory. The Conservatory is always a great time. Having a new friend along made it extra special. Hope you enjoy this weeks offering. PWP week of Apr 9 – Apr 15 23
Feast or famine that’s the way it goes. This week there was numerous photo opportunities. Easter — Megs had a visit from her friend Candy Floss. Always a pleasure when friends drop in. Mother Nature tried to trick us into believing it was Christmas by showering us with a lot of wet white snow. The horses weren’t impressed. I don’t think anyone was. Thanks to social media I’m able to view other photographer’s work. The ones I really admire are the ones that visit animal shelter and provide photos to increase adoption. I could never do this. I’d end up bringing all the pets home and if not that, do a lot of crying. Those eyes would haunt me forever. So I’ve decided to practice my craft another way. I’m told I have more stuffed animals than most children so I’m going to put them to use. You may have met a few of my plush friends in previous posts. I’m going to stage them as I would an actual pet. It will be good practice for when I met a real model and it will be fun. In this post you will meet Rugs the golden lab puppy. Gus the hound and Fritz the poodle. Along with the real thing – Josie and Chase. I”ve been most fortunate in acquiring the book Dogtography by Kaylee Greer. It is wonderful. Hopefully I will be able to improve my skills some. The little squirrel was back for a short while. Lots to see this week. Hope you enjoy the shots.

PWP week of Mar 23 – Apr 1 23
I’m cutting it pretty close today. We are told there is another batch of bad weather heading our way so was getting the outside prepared. Another assortment for this week. Hauled out some props. Figured I’d better make use of the snow while it was still here. Megs and Josie had a bonding session. Josie is so good with her and posing. Of course we have skies and dogs. Unfortunately I’ve been spending time at a hospital. I had to laugh when I saw this sign. There were two beds parked along the wall. The amethyst crystal is to replace a rose crystal I had the same shape. Hope you enjoy this weeks contribution. PWP week of Mar 19 – Mar 25 23
What a week! It was one of those weeks in which Life throws things at you. And I missed. I though I would have to restore to archives for my post but miraculously I was able to get brand new shots to share with you. We had two visitors this week. A bald eagle decided one of our tree was a great lockout post. It hung around for quite awhile. Our next visitor was Truffles. He was on his way to the family sty and needed a place to rest. He was quite agreeable to having his photo taken. One of his wishes or dreams was to have a picture taken with a wolf. I guess he heard the story of Little Red Riding Hood. I told him there were no wolves around at the moment by Chase would gladly fill in. Which he did, very well. No one was injured during the photo shot. I didn’t realize Easter was getting close until I visited a friend and saw all the decoration. I guess the chocolate candies in the stores should have clued me in. Once again I was able to get photos of the moon and Venus and the moon stopping for a rest. I passed the wreath on a walk in the city and thought it was kind’ve neat. And a partial portrait of a dog. Hope you enjoy my offering for this week. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of Mar 5 – Mar 11 23
The end of this week we had a good old blizzard. Was pretty intense for a while. The pups and I ventured out when there was a a bit of a break and visited the horses. Jazz’s ears where outlined in white. Up until yesterday the deer in our area were finding it difficult to get down to the grass due to the hardened snow. Now there is more snow to contended with on the hardened surface. One evening we had a herd of mule deer come to the yard. They migrated to the area we feed the horses. And more wildlife came to the yard this week. There seems to be an abundance of prairie chicken this year. Later in the day the flock I took pictures of went right through the yard. I never know what my camera with catch on any given day. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of Feb 12 – Feb 18 23
The weeks are flying by. Soon we will be March and soon Spring will be here. We had a little white visitor this week. A weasel has moved in. We haven’t seen many mice this winter and he is probably the reason. Chase seems to be able to tell when he is out and about. The weather has been unsettle this week, providing some awesome skies. Only February and we have some pretty huge snow banks. You’d think with all that snow it would be a lot of runoff but the experts say it will be a normal one for our region. Once again we have shots of the pups. They see a camera and seem to think they are the models. Which they usually are. I may gave caught a shot of a UFO. Enjoy. Easter
As Easter is time to be thankful and rejoice. I am thankful for the dogs that shared their lives with me. Thankful for the willing models they were for this photographer. Some were just naturals and the others learned how to behave when the camera travelled with us and that was most of the time on our walks. Now I have two new ones (15 months old) and they are coming along nicely. The handsome fellow posing for the Easter card is Tux. He came to us as a 3 or 4 year old rescue. He fit into life with the photographer as if he’d been special requested. As with ALL my models and friends, he is truly missed.

Chase – Natural light
I took an online photography class on pet photography using natural light. My model for this class was Chase, a 13 month old Belgian Malinois. He was a very willing model. Here are the photos I submitted for the final project. Josie, Chases sister crashed the photo session and is in one of the shots.

PWP Week of June 28 2020
This week was a week of celebration. July 1st for my Canadian friends and July 4th for my American friends. Hope all had a good time. I spent July 1st home with my family. The only fireworks was the discussion on what to have for supper! We had warm/hot weather and thunderstorms this week. The shots of the clouds are straight out of the camera. No magic editing. The clouds looked fierce but we only had minimum wind and 3/10th of rain. My assistant the trail camera caught a whitetail doe and her fawn and two of the bucks that spend time in our area. The Boy and I went on a road trip one day. Saw some cattle and a moose on a hill that someone had built . Looks pretty realistic. One evening when we were out and about, there were turkey vultures flying over head. That does give a person a funny feeling! On one of our hot days The Boy and I spent time in Studio 13 experimenting with different props and backgrounds. I had a good time, felt good getting the creative parts of the brain working. The Boy had a good nap!
All in all it was a good week. Hope to see you next week.

PWP Week of June 21, 2020
Happy Sunday! My week went fast, how was yours. This week we have some action shots. Flying ducks and bees; running coyote and deer. My assistant the Trail camera caught some great ones of the deer that live in our pasture. We are pretty dry here and a caught Quill having a dust bath. Think he was trying to impress the ladies. One evening we had an unwanted guest on our front lawn. This shot was taken thru the window as I wasn’t going outside. Went on a road trip but the only shots I have from it are the ones of the mule deer doe in action. The driver didn’t see the photo opportunities I did and wasn’t inclined to stop. I counted about ten shots that would have fit in here. Oh well. Hope you enjoy these. I’m hoping to spend some time in Studio 13 being creative this week.
Come back next week and see what manifested.

PWP Week of June 7 2020
Not much photography wise is happening as of yet. No events, concerts, horses chasing barrels. I’ve pretty much been staying close to home. However, the camera isn’t gathering dust. It comes with us when The Boy and I go for walks or drives. I’ve decided to do a week by week pictorial story of our adventures. Each day brings something new. If it doesn’t there is still the usual – horses, flowers, birds. Please join me as we travel thru the week of June 7. Today starts a new pictorial log. I hope you come back next week to find out what we saw.

Snow and more snow
I realize we aren’t getting near the amount of snow they are getting in Eastern Canada and the US. If you ask anyone here they’d say we have way to much. Unless you are a child, sometimes it is difficult to appreciate the snow. However, I did manage to capture someone who does love the snow ……………………..
