PWP week of June 11 – June 17 23

I’m sorry this post is late.
Another great week. I could take 6 months of weather like we are having. Minus the mosquitoes. A little bad with a lot of good is ok. The highlight of my week was a trip to a Scandinavian festival. No airplane tickets involved. A friend and I drove to the site of the festival. Coming home was a bit dicey. The highway was being worked on and the signs weren’t put back up so I missed our turn. Figured it out before we went to far and thanks to Google maps found the right road. I have included a few teaser shots of what we saw. Will post a blog of all later in the week. Besides a bit of culture we have rain drops on clover, a high stepping robin, clouds, some late blooming lilacs. My Grandmother lived in a small town which had big lots. One side of hers was filled with a hedge of yellow roses. I am lucky enough to have a yellow rose bush, which reminds me of her, so this week we have some yellow roses. A barn swallow rests from driving Josie nuts. Remember to watch for the Scandinavian blog. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of June 7 – June 10 23

Weather wise was about the same this week but was able to get out and click the shutters. We have Chase looking down to China and one of his pretty paws, A butterfly landed on the deck and stayed long enough to have her picture taken. I found a home for some of my photo props so I took a few more shots of the before they left, I’m thinking I should have keep the little rabbit but he is gone now. Tis rose season now. I got a few shots of them. They don’t last long. My assistant the trail camera took the shots of the magpie and the fox. She doesn’t look in a great a shape. I image she is nursing several little ones. She sets the dogs off barking some nights. I had a grad/family photo shot this week. It went well. I’m hoping to post some of the shots in my portfolio page. The little boy blowing bubblies is from the same shot. A weather system was moving in quite fast so I didn’t get as many images of the bubble boy as I had hoped. Maybe next time. For those of you who don’t know, I’m living on the farm I grew up on. This year school age children have moved into the district so the school goes by same time , same road as it did when I walked out to the road to catch it to go to school (different driver). Memories. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery.

PWP week of May 28 – June 3 23

As I’m writing, we are under a heat warning. Not much activities outside today. Looks like I will need to be setting up my Studio 13. For this week we have dogs, Chase is working into being a great model. Found some flowers, and neat fungi. There is a bit of creative metal working and a few winged friends. This week is a real smorgasbord of shots. Enjoy. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of May 21 – May 27 23

Last week of May. Weeks are flying by. I don’t have rain drops on roses but have rain drops on other flora. Even caught a white butterfly feeding on a dandelion. Used my Lensbaby lens for a few shots. It was used it for most of the shots of Chase. We have an invisible fence around 6 acres for the yard to keep the dogs safe. The one of Chase’s head is him waiting by the boundary for me to come back to the yard. I used ICM (in camera movement) for the cherry blossom shot. Was pleased with the result. I caught one gorgeous sunrise this week. Of course we have pups at play. Our lilacs are just starting to bloom and they are beautiful. Our lilac bushes are foundation ones and the fragrance is wonderful. Wonder what this week will bring. I know there will be a special post. Watch for it.  For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery

PWP week of May 14 – May 20 23

I was starting to think that this weeks addition would be a famine week but Mother Nature came thru with great photo opportunities. One night after a very smoky day the evening sun was shrouded in smoke and I was lucky enough to be out to see it. Spring has definitely arrived bringing greens and yellows. I was able to record this year’s pussy willows and the last stages of it’s development. May is the month fishing begins in my area and I have a few hooks for you to view. I don’t fish so they won’t be used. A visit to our pasture enabled me to see the destruction the beavers can create. One tree became tangled in branched and didn’t fall to the ground after a lot of gnawing by the beaver. Wonder what the beaver thought when nothing came crashing down. As usual we have have shots of friends. Hope you enjoy this weeks contribution and return to see what shows up in front of my lens in the coming week. PWP week of May 7 – May 13 23

This week if all about spring. It’s here. Trees are greening up and grass is green in most places. Caught some crocuses before they left for another year. They don’t last long. Next will come the roses. On the way home. i caught a sea creature in the creek. Not sure but I think it was a muskrat. I took the camera with my Lensbaby on it out for some shots. A couple Mourning doves hung out in the yard for awhile. Also a fox decided to have a nap in the manure pile. Till next week. PWP week of Apr 30 – May 6 23

This week if a feast week. I have lots to share. The usual environmental shots are included. Things that have caught my interest. How man flavors of milkshakes can there be? The lovely little purple flowers are out. Chase and I went hunting them one day Geese are on the move. The shot of Chase and Ninja was taken from a distance thru a garden window to is on the soft side. I included it because I liked it. Caught a shot of the famous V formation. Of course there are shots of dogs and horses. What really padded this weeks post was a visit to the Water Fowl Part in Regina. It was mainly Canadian geese but did find a couple of duck, some pigeons and a rabbit went scooting by as I was leaving. I have never seen red catkins before. Was told they grown on either a poplar tree or aspen. There was a goose feeding in the water and it could kept it’s head under for a long time. Enjoy. PWP week of Apr 23 – Apr 29 23

We have sunshine. We have calm winds. We have no form of moisture falling. Think we could be in for a perfect Sunday? It was a good week. Spring tried really hard to arrive. Looking at the amount of water laying on the ground I think it did. As you will see our dug out is full, over full actually and Josie has lots of water to play in. Birds are out looking for treats now the snow has left This week I grab my nifty fifty lens and went on a bit of a walking tour. Up one side of a main street and back down the other. Amazing how much more you notice while on foot than in a car. My favorite from this collection is the last image For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of Apr 16 – Apr 22 23

We have another good old storm the end of this week but no pictures will be posted. That season is over. I did get some shots of the spring run off before the storm. Josie loves the water. I did get a shot of angel wings and wonder if they belonged to my Guardian Angel. The one I keep pretty busy! And the same evening a jet flew over. I always wonder where they are off to when they pass over. This week you meet Scruffy. He is a mixed terrier breed. He had just escaped from the toy box and we stopped at the Conservatory. The Conservatory is always a great time. Having a new friend along made it extra special. Hope you enjoy this weeks offering. PWP week of Apr 9 – Apr 15 23

Feast or famine that’s the way it goes. This week there was numerous photo opportunities. Easter — Megs had a visit from her friend Candy Floss. Always a pleasure when friends drop in. Mother Nature tried to trick us into believing it was Christmas by showering us with a lot of wet white snow. The horses weren’t impressed. I don’t think anyone was. Thanks to social media I’m able to view other photographer’s work. The ones I really admire are the ones that visit animal shelter and provide photos to increase adoption. I could never do this. I’d end up bringing all the pets home and if not that, do a lot of crying. Those eyes would haunt me forever. So I’ve decided to practice my craft another way. I’m told I have more stuffed animals than most children so I’m going to put them to use. You may have met a few of my plush friends in previous posts. I’m going to stage them as I would an actual pet. It will be good practice for when I met a real model and it will be fun. In this post you will meet Rugs the golden lab puppy. Gus the hound and Fritz the poodle. Along with the real thing – Josie and Chase. I”ve been most fortunate in acquiring the book Dogtography by Kaylee Greer. It is wonderful. Hopefully I will be able to improve my skills some. The little squirrel was back for a short while. Lots to see this week. Hope you enjoy the shots.

PWP week of Apr 2 – Apr 8 23

As the rabbit in Alice in wonder land said — I’m late I’m late. All I an say is that sometimes life gets in the way. I was still driving into the city most days this week so I didn’t get much of a chance for creativity. Mother Nature helped out by sending a mule deer doe and her twins. They have taken residence just north of home. I’ve seen them a number of time. And I remembered to leave a camera in the car. Megs came for an Easter visit and I was able to get some Easter photos of her and her friend. It’s always fun to have an infant photo shot. My Easter plush friend came out of the box for a quick play session. There are no sky shots or dog shots this week. Happy Easter to all. Hope you enjoy this weeks contribution. PWP week of Mar 23 – Apr 1 23

I’m cutting it pretty close today. We are told there is another batch of bad weather heading our way so was getting the outside prepared. Another assortment for this week. Hauled out some props. Figured I’d better make use of the snow while it was still here. Megs and Josie had a bonding session. Josie is so good with her and posing. Of course we have skies and dogs. Unfortunately I’ve been spending time at a hospital. I had to laugh when I saw this sign. There were two beds parked along the wall. The amethyst crystal is to replace a rose crystal I had the same shape. Hope you enjoy this weeks contribution. PWP week of Mar 19 – Mar 25 23

What a week! It was one of those weeks in which Life throws things at you. And I missed. I though I would have to restore to archives for my post but miraculously I was able to get brand new shots to share with you. We had two visitors this week. A bald eagle decided one of our tree was a great lockout post. It hung around for quite awhile. Our next visitor was Truffles. He was on his way to the family sty and needed a place to rest. He was quite agreeable to having his photo taken. One of his wishes or dreams was to have a picture taken with a wolf. I guess he heard the story of Little Red Riding Hood. I told him there were no wolves around at the moment by Chase would gladly fill in. Which he did, very well. No one was injured during the photo shot. I didn’t realize Easter was getting close until I visited a friend and saw all the decoration. I guess the chocolate candies in the stores should have clued me in. Once again I was able to get photos of the moon and Venus and the moon stopping for a rest. I passed the wreath on a walk in the city and thought it was kind’ve neat. And a partial portrait of a dog. Hope you enjoy my offering for this week. For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of Mar 12 – Mar 18 23

It was a good week once we got dug out AGAIN. Hopefully not to many storms will roll thru. Living in Saskatchewan one can’t help being amazed by the skies we have. And they change so fast. I see unique cloud formations while out doing chores and by the time I get out with the camera they are gone. We have a squirrel hanging around again. I will try and get more pics of him. Took a road trip to Fort Qu’Appelle Saturday. Chase needed a new harness for the car and the pet store there is great. Along Bay Ave there are beautiful statutes carved from wood. All done with a chainsaw. Here is a link about the creator https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/carving-art-artwork-fort-qu-appelle-pandemic-1.5652077 The bird houses were along the way. The shots of the white tailed deer are from the trip to the valley also. Like the sky shots, there will always photos of dogs! I wanted a picture of an old window frame for a project the pigeon was a plus Enjoy

PWP week of Mar 5 – Mar 11 23

The end of this week we had a good old blizzard. Was pretty intense for a while. The pups and I ventured out when there was a a bit of a break and visited the horses. Jazz’s ears where outlined in white. Up until yesterday the deer in our area were finding it difficult to get down to the grass due to the hardened snow. Now there is more snow to contended with on the hardened surface. One evening we had a herd of mule deer come to the yard. They migrated to the area we feed the horses. And more wildlife came to the yard this week. There seems to be an abundance of prairie chicken this year. Later in the day the flock I took pictures of went right through the yard. I never know what my camera with catch on any given day.  For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of Feb 26 – Mar 4 23

Already into March. This week went by fast. I’m still trying to get good shots of the moon. Had better luck this week. A special guest dropped by the ranch this week. MK from the Meerkat Colony stopped in to see us. He visited the horses. Received a kiss from Katie. The horses weren’t sure what to make of him. He and Chase had a talk, probably about what is see while he was here. He covered a lot of ground while he was here. He is a bit of a cheeky fellow. One morning we had crystal frost which is always fun to capture.  For those of you who follow my posts, I try and have the content posted by 9:00 (CST) Sunday AM. PWP week of Feb 19 – Feb 25 23

The weather didn’t cooperate for outdoor photo shots this week. Or it didn’t for me. I dug into 2022 archives for this weeks addition. Every year in Regina 13th Ave. is blocked off for the Cathedral Art festival. I think I’ve posted shots from other years. It is a wonderful time. All kinds of art is on display and food truck are abundant. And dogs! This year was a plus for me. I knew one of the artist and was able to view a lot of his art. I hope to enjoy the tour. Watch Facebook for the notification of the date of the 2023 festival. Might see you there! For those that are interested here is the link for the webpage https://cvaf.ca/ Lots to see. PWP week of Feb 12 – Feb 18 23

The weeks are flying by. Soon we will be March and soon Spring will be here. We had a little white visitor this week. A weasel has moved in. We haven’t seen many mice this winter and he is probably the reason. Chase seems to be able to tell when he is out and about. The weather has been unsettle this week, providing some awesome skies. Only February and we have some pretty huge snow banks. You’d think with all that snow it would be a lot of runoff but the experts say it will be a normal one for our region. Once again we have shots of the pups. They see a camera and seem to think they are the models. Which they usually are. I may gave caught a shot of a UFO. Enjoy. PWP week of Feb 5 – Feb 11 23

This week I’ve posted numerous shots of Josie and Chase. Two years ago they entered our lives. And trust me our lives haven’t been the same since. Josie came to live with us on February 6 and Chase came home on February 13. A flock of prairie chicken decided to hang around for a few day, hence the partridge in the trees. A couple artistic shots and some of the moon. Still trying to get a good shot of the moon but not succeeding. Hope you enjoy this weeks additions. PWP week of Jan 29 – Feb 4 23

It’s been a crazy week weather wise. Fog, quick blizzard, wind and ABOVE normal temps. Some of this weeks additions are from archives from a year ago.

PWP week of Jan 22 – Jan 28 23

January is flying by. 4th week — 4th posting. Hope you are enjoying them. Up and down week here. Nice weather than we were hit with a blizzard for a few hours one morning. It was over before I got out with the camera. This week is another week of variety. Dogs, Plush friends, still life, more frost and sky shots. Pips makes a friend and Megs gains a protector. Oh and a pretty bird. My bird expert tells me it is a Starling. We have two of them at the feeders. And now this weeks installment. Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery.

PWP week of Jan 15 – 21 23

Mother Nature provided another week of beautiful frost. I wasn’t going to take more photos but …. like crocuses you can never has too many. I had a model for a few of the shots. She loves the winter weather. I also caught a furry white rabbit that had escaped from the toy box. She and I had fun and the pups joined in for awhile. Speaking of pups, there is a new pup in the kennel. Meet Pips. I’m sure you will be seeing more of her. One morning the the sun rise was spectacular and I had my camera handy. It was posted on my Facebook page and received many likes. There are other images that I capture during the week. All without leaving the farm. Hope you enjoy all. Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery. Comments are always welcome.

PWP week of Jan 8 – Jan 14 23

Off to a good start. Weather here for January has been exceptional. Above normal temperature and little snow. It was another week of foggy which equals beautiful hoar frost. This week we have a variety of shots. A bit of frost. Some of Saskatchewan’s beautiful skies. We did a bit of clean up burning so I was able to get some shots of the fire. A few shots from a trip to the city. Not sure what the men were creating in the park but there is a “Frost” festival coming up so I’m guessing it pertains to that. A pair of gloves didn’t make it home. A horse in a store! The Chinese restaurant we visited still had their Christmas tree up. Off course the Pups show up in this weeks lineup. Looking forward to collecting next weeks shots. 50 weeks to go. Can I make it? Enjoy this collection. Click on the image and then right click to move thru the gallery.

PWP Week of Jan 1 – Jan 7 23

This week was a good week for photos. Mother Nature was very coopertive. We had a number of days of frost. I thought she’d forgotten us as other place were decorated with it but not us. I was out when it was dark and took a few with the flash. Just something different. We went on a road trip and the porcupine was in the ditch along the was I put one on Facebook and it has been well like. Hope you enjoy them.
